Sarah Shennib is a legal consultant in the Kuwait office of DLA Piper. Prior to relocating to the Middle East, Sarah was an associate in the London office of a leading Canadian law firm specialising in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings (LSE, AIM and TSX) for companies in the energy and mining sectors.

Her practice focuses on corporate finance and projects, mergers and acquisitions and public and private equity. She represents corporate clients and financial investors in project financing, acquisitions, restructuring, listings and equity offerings.

Sarah is experienced in transactions pertaining to the oil, gas and mining sectors, advising companies with assets in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, North Africa and the Caucasus regions.

Sarah is also experienced in advising on technology and IP related matters and holds and LLM in Intellectual Property and Technology Law.

Her key experiences include:

Energy
  • Acting for a major LSE listed oil and gas company in connection with proposed acquisition of Turkish energy company
  • Acting for a major LSE listed oil and gas company in connection with US$1.5 billion disposal of Ugandan oil and gas interests
  • Acting for the Libyan Investment Authority on the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of a TSX listed oil and gas company
  • Acting for a dual listed (LSE/TSX) oil and gas company on syndicated bridging finance of up to £31.25 million with the Royal Bank of Scotland
  • Acting for an oil and gas company with assets in Kazakhstan in connection with AIM admission and 39 million IPO and subsequent US$250 million reverse takeover of petroleum company
  • Acting for an international energy company with assets in central Africa in connection with its US$100 million syndicated debt facility with Standard Bank plc as facility agent

Mining
  • Acting for BNP Paribas in connection with US$30,000,000 credit facility to mining company with assets in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Acting for a major dual listed mining company (TSX/LSE) in the acquisition of a Mauritanian mining company, reorganization of shareholding and subsequent amendment of security agreements with Standard Chartered Bank
  • Acting for Anglo American mining in proposed purchase of major European mining company

Technology
  • Advising a major Canadian multinational telecommunications company and smartphone producer in financing of UK software company
  • Advising a major Canadian multinational telecommunications company on UK software licensing and consumer protection regulations
