Anthony Kappus's practice focuses on securities and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law, with an emphasis on representing emerging growth companies and venture capital funds. His experience includes counseling start-up companies regarding formation and equity compensation, venture capital financings (representing both companies and investors), mergers and acquisitions, initial and secondary public offerings and SEC reporting.
Mr. Kappus's recent transactional experience includes representing:

PopCap Games, Inc. in its $1.3 billion sale to Electronic Arts, Inc.

Intermec, Inc. in its $195 million acquisition of Vocollect, Inc.

PopCap Games, Inc. in its acquisition of ZipZapPlay, Inc.
-
a multinational consumer products company in its IPO on NASDAQ, and
-
a foreign consumer products company in its listing on the NYSE
Mr. Kappus also regularly represents venture capital firms including Ignition Venture Partners, Madrona Venture Partners, Maveron Equity Partners and Trilogy Equity Partners in venture capital financings. Recent transactions include venture capital investments in companies such as Hipmunk, Inc., Swype, Inc., BlueStack Systems, Inc. and ScaleXtreme Inc.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Mr. Kappus worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Lonny R. Suko, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.
Before studying law, Mr. Kappus worked in the Canadian financial sector for two years.
