Arthur Beeman has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading intellectual property lawyers. Mr. Beeman focuses his practice on complex intellectual property litigation and commercial disputes. He has significant national trial experience representing clients in the communications, internet, software, semiconductor, and medical device industries, including a number of Fortune 500 companies, in courtrooms in New York; Boston; Chicago; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco; Cleveland; Minneapolis; Billings, Montana and Lexington, Kentucky. Mr. Beeman has tried over 30 cases to jury verdict.
In 2008, the California Daily Journal named Mr. Beeman among California's Top Ten Patent Lawyers, in its first-ever listing of the state's top intellectual property lawyers. Mr. Beeman won a jury verdict for the inventor in Gaus v. Conair which was listed by The National Law Journal as one of the top ten jury verdicts for 2002.
He has also been named in both Chambers USA: America ’s Leading Lawyers for Business and in Best Lawyers in America. He joins DLA Piper from a California-based firm, where he chaired the patent litigation group. Prior to that, Mr. Beeman served as chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Group at a large Midwestern firm, which, at the time, ranked among the top ten patent litigation firms in the United States, according to Managing Intellectual Property.
Recent Matters

obtained $8.5 million verdict in a patent infringement and Lanham Act jury trial on behalf of internet college admissions company. In subsequent bench trial, obtained findings of willful violations of the Lanham Act by the defendant, exceptional case, and the court awarded client attorneys' fees and costs.

represented successfully an inventor in a patent infringement jury trial that resulted in a $47 million verdict in his client’s favor.

represented successfully a patentee and inventor of GPS technology in arbitration of a license dispute.

obtained a defense jury verdict for a construction machinery manufacturer in a patent infringement case.

won a $10 million jury verdict for a consumer products manufacturer in a contract dispute.

won a jury verdict for an artificial sports surface manufacturer in a case involving fraud and breach of contract claims.

obtained a jury verdict for a battery manufacturer in a patent infringement case.

won a permanent injunction for a Fortune 100 medical devices manufacturer in a patent infringement lawsuit.

won a judgment from an arbitrator in a trackage rights dispute on behalf of a major railroad.
