Barbara Trachtenberg focuses her practice on real estate conveyancing, development, leasing and finance, including joint venture and mezzanine transactions. She has represented regional and national owners and lenders in a broad variety of commercial real estate transactions. Her experience includes representing buyers and sellers of downtown office towers, hotels, office buildings, multifamily properties, mixed use projects and golf courses; representing institutional investors and developer partners in joint venture acquisition and financing transactions; representing borrowers, banks and institutional lenders in primary, secondary, and mezzanine lending for all asset types; and representing landlords and tenants in leasing transactions of office, retail, industrial, and laboratory space.
Ms. Trachtenberg is a past president of NEWIRE (New England Women in Real Estate), the local chapter of CREW Network, and was NEWIRE's chapter liaison for the 2009 CREW Convention, held in Boston.
In October 2009, the Boston Business Journal profiled her and her career in a feature article, "NEWIRE'S Trachtenberg: A natural affinity for real estate."
The respected English research firm Chambers & Partners recognizes her in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Chambers has commented that she is "a real rising star," "widely appreciated as 'an excellent advocate for her clients'" who "value her commercial awareness and thorough understanding of their businesses." Chambers also has said of her, "An expert in property conveyancing, development and leasing, she also handles joint venture and mezzanine transactions."
In 2007, Ms. Trachtenberg was one of only four lawyers named by the Boston Business Journal to its "40 under 40" list, recognizing Greater Boston's next generation of business leaders and innovators. In 2010, she was named to CREW Networks' "20 under 40" list.
