Bill Goldman concentrates his practice in litigation matters involving electrical systems; semiconductor technologies; computer memories; telecommunications; digital and analog circuits; computer systems and architecture; Internet technologies; electro-optical devices, medical devices; software; artificial intelligence; user interfaces; natural language processing; and optical storage technologies. He also counsels clients with regard to patent portfolio management, and patent/product analysis.
He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as US district courts. Mr. Goldman also practices before the International Trade Commission, and lectures on various issues relating to patents and other intellectual property.

Obtained summary judgment of non-infringement in favor of defendant Trident Microsystems in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, NeoMagic Corp. v. Trident Microsystems, Inc., 129 F.Supp.2d 689, D.Del. (Feb. 1, 2001).

Participated in argument of appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirming-in-part and remanding the district court's summary judgment determination. NeoMagic Corp. v. Trident Microsystems, Inc., 287 F.3d 1062 (Fed. Cir. 2002).

Obtained summary judgment of non-infringement in favor of defendant Trident Microsystems on remand to the US District Court for the District of Delaware, NeoMagic Corp. v. Trident Microsystems, Inc., 2003 WL 21076779 (May 9, 2003).

Obtained jury verdict of willful infringement in favor of plaintiff Adobe Systems, Inc. against Macromedia, Inc. in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.

Obtained jury verdict of willful infringement in favor of plaintiff IMX, Inc. against LendingTree, LLC in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.

Obtained jury verdict of infringement in favor of plaintiff CollegeNET, Inc. and also a violation of the Lanham Act against XAP Corp. in the US District Court of Oregon.

Obtained jury verdict of no infringement and invalidity in favor of defendant Gemological Institute of America against Lazare Kaplan International in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Obtained favorable Markman ruling for a wireless telecommunications company in a patent infringement case relating to automatic programming of cellular telephones brought in US District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Obtained early favorable settlement for defendant Unical Enterprises, Inc. in a patent infringement case relating to answering machines brought in US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Obtained favorable settlement for defendants Banter, Inc. and Inquira, Inc. in two separate patent infringement cases in the US District Court for the Northern District of California relating to natural language processing systems.

Obtained favorable settlement for defendants, Amazon, Sears and Land’s End in a patent infringement case in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas relating to Internet systems.

Obtained favorable Markman ruling for plaintiff's Zoran Corporation and Oak Technology, Inc. in a patent infringement case relating to controllers for optical storage devices and DVD players brought in US District Court for the Northern District of California.

Obtained early favorable settlement for defendant Trident Microsystems, Inc. in a patent and trademark infringement case in the US District Court for the Northern District of California relating to microprocessor operation.

Representing defendant Orb Networks in a pending patent infringement case in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida relating to Internet systems for streaming digital media.

Representing defendant Palm, Inc. in a pending patent infringement case in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas relating to microprocessor architecture.
Recent Litigation Matters- International Trade Commission

Obtained favorable settlement for respondent ESS Technology, Inc. after initial determination by Judge Terrill in the International Trade Commission in a Section 337 patent infringement investigation relating to host signal processing modems.

Obtained favorable settlement for Monster Cable in a Section 337 patent infringement investigation in the International Trade Commission relating to mercury-free batteries.

Obtained exclusion order for Zoran Corporation and Oak Technology, Inc. against MediaTek, Inc., in a Section 337 patent infringement investigation in the International Trade Commission relating to controllers for optical storage devices and DVD players. Case ultimately settled on very favorable terms for Zoran and Oak.
