Bruce Wein is based in New York and serves as Chair of DLA Piper's Transactional Tax practice. Mr. Wein concentrates on federal, state and international tax matters involving public and private companies, including limited liability companies, partnerships and joint ventures. His corporate tax practice historically has focused on corporate acquisitions and reorganizations, including insolvency and bankruptcy reorganizations, spinoff transactions, S corporations, debt and equity offerings including private equity and alternative asset funds, including real estate and life settlement funds. In addition to representing fund managers and their affiliated funds generally, a focus of Mr. Wein's practice of late has been estate planning and maximizing the after tax returns of both managers and investors.

Mr. Wein also has considerable experience in structuring joint ventures including master limited partnerships involving real estate as well as the energy sector including exploration, development, renewable energy and leveraged leasing.

Legal 500 recognizes Mr. Wein, commenting that clients say he has "the overall expertise in corporate tax which makes him the type of adviser we rely on when making key decisions." and “is prepared to take positions advantageous to us even if it means creating contentious conversations with the other side”. Mr. Wein has received the highest Martindale-Hubbell ranking and is recognized as a New York Super Lawyer.
