Frank Jackson concentrates his practice on complex federal and state tax controversies and litigation. Mr. Jackson represents corporations, partnerships, estates, and individuals in a wide range of matters before the Internal Revenue Service Examination Division and Appeals Office. He also represents clients in cases before the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and in federal district court.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Mr. Jackson was a senior trial attorney and national tax shelter project attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. In that capacity, he represented the IRS before the United States Tax Court and provided legal advice during the examination and audit of various abusive tax avoidance transactions and intermediary transactions.
In 2004, Mr. Jackson received a Division Counsel Cube Award for a favorable opinion in a case involving the computation of the alternate minimum tax. He also received performance awards in 2002, 2004, and 2005 in recognition of his superior work and contribution to the goals of the IRS.
