Ty D. Laurie is the Chair of DLA Piper’s US Construction Group. He is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and the 2006-2007 Chair of the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry.

Mr. Laurie's has received numerous construction law awards and recognitions including:

  • Leading Lawyers Network named him among the Top 100 Lawyers in Illinois in 2007 (out of over 82,000 lawyers), 2007 Top 100 Business Lawyers in Illinois, 2007 Top 10 Construction Lawyers in Illinois, and a Number 1 rating for construction law;
  • Sears, Roebuck and Co. bestowed upon him the 1999 Sears Construction World Partner, the first time an attorney won the award from Sears’ construction department;
  • Chambers USA rated him Number 1 as a construction lawyer, and cited him as one of the country's leading litigation attorneys;
  • Martindale-Hubbell rated him "AV," reflecting preeminent legal ability and the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Several other legal publications have included Mr. Laurie as a distinguished construction lawyer including The Best Lawyers in America, Illinois Super Lawyers, International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.

Mr. Laurie has a national reputation for his practice of construction law. His representative matters include: the multi-billion-dollar multi-building development in downtown Manhattan at Ground Zero to replace the World Trade Center; The Chicago Spire development, projected to become the tallest building in the Western hemisphere as well as the tallest all-residential building in the world; Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles; and the historic $600 million reconstruction of Soldier Field. Projects also include Arlington Park International Racetrack, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center; Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Sears retail outlets nationwide.
