DLA Piper advises Scottish Rugby Union on broadcast deal with BBC
News
Press Release
DLA Piper's Sports team has successfully advised the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) on the sale of broadcast rights for Scotland's Autumn Internationals to the BBC. It is the first time in several years that the SRU has sold the rights on an individual basis and will mean that Scotland's matches against New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa later this month will be shown live on the BBC.
"It was a pleasure to have assisted the SRU in the continued exploitation of their media rights," said Nick Fitzpatrick who, along with Patrick Mitchell, led the DLA Piper team. "This deal follows a 'rest of the world' arrangement with Sportfive that we helped the SRU conclude last year and we look forward to working with the SRU in the future."
Gordon Mckie, SRU Chief Executive commented, "We are delighted to have secured strong broadcast coverage of our Autumn Test fixtures on the BBC. DLA Piper offered us sound advice and support throughout the process and we look forward to working closely with them in the months ahead."
