DLA Piper strengthens Berlin office with Irene Schmid
Press Release
DLA Piper is expanding its Berlin office with the recruitment of the lawyer and notary Irene Schmid. On 1 January 2012, the current president of the Berlin Chamber of Lawyers moved from the law firm Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft to DLA Piper, where in view of her presidential office she is joining as a counsel. She will strengthen the Finance & Projects practice group in the firm at the point where banking and real estate law overlap and will be introducing her many years of experience as a notary to the firm.
Irene Schmid advises both banks and investors from the domestic and foreign markets on property transactions and financing arrangements as well as on project financing, particularly in the field of infrastructure. Another of her specializations is advice to public-sector banks and funding banks on issues of the law concerning banking and bank supervision, including the areas bordering on matters of budgetary and municipal law. As a notary, Irene Schmid is primarily involved in the field of real estate and company law, but also has extensive experience in the setting up of last wills and foundations, including complex estates and foreign elements.
Dr Wolfgang Richter, head of the Finance & Projects practice group of DLA Piper, commented: “We are delighted to be joined by Irene Schmid, who with her expertise will be performing an important bridging function between the Finance & Projects and Real Estate practice groups.”
“I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues at DLA Piper and would like to use my practical experience in not only contributing to the relevant practice groups but also in establishing even closer links between the respective locations,” said Irene Schmid.
