Carlton Wessel has been practicing law for more than 20 years and has extensive white-collar experience, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry.

Carl represents pharmaceutical companies in federal and state criminal and civil government investigations and False Claims Act (whistleblower) litigation. He has also represented clients in several recent congressional investigations before the Senate Finance Committee, the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

Carl counsels companies on how to mitigate the substantial risk posed by the current enforcement and litigation environment. In his role as assistant general counsel and head of Pfizer’s government investigations group, Carl handled all government investigations, including matters initiated by US attorneys’ offices, state attorneys general, the Securities and Exchange Commission and congressional committees.

He has substantial experience with matters concerning off-label promotion, anti-kickback violations, securities fraud, manufacturing, drug pricing, health-care and drug sales and marketing investigations, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Carl has also managed a number of product liability cases and other commercial litigation.
