Following the enactment of the New Insurance Law of China on October 1, 2009 (the New Insurance Law), China Insurance Regulatory Commission, or CIRC, has circulated a host of implementing rules that carry broad implications. One notable change is that the criteria for entry into the insurance intermediary market is tightened, which together with other restrictions narrow down the options for foreign investment in the PRC insurance intermediary market.
