Ann Hurwitz concentrates her practice primarily in franchise and distribution law. She regularly counsels clients on the structuring and operation of franchise programs. She has devoted particular attention to the operational, relationship, and regulatory issues arising from the ownership of multiple concepts, the offer of co-branded opportunities, concept acquisition and disposition, the integration of alternative distribution channels with existing distribution systems, and the re-structuring of distribution systems. Ms. Hurwitz also counsels clients on the benefits, risks, and legal issues involved in expanding through distribution methods other than franchising, including joint ventures, licenses, dealerships, and distributorships.

Ms. Hurwitz represents companies in a variety of industries, including the hotel, restaurant, retail, automobile rental, convenience store, consumer services, real estate, and communications industries.

She is a frequent speaker on franchise and distribution issues for business and professional groups, including the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising, the International Franchise Association, and the International Bar Association. She is the author of numerous articles relating to franchising and distribution.

Ms. Hurwitz is included in An International Who’s Who of Franchise Lawyers. She is listed in the 2006 - 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America and has been listed in that publication every year since 1995. Ms. Hurwitz was selected as a Texas Super Lawyer in both 2003 and 2004, and in May 2005 was named one of the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine, one of only four in the franchise and distribution category. She was also listed in the 2005 Who's Who Legal: The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers and was named in Franchise Times’ “Legal Eagles” as one of the top 101 franchise lawyers in the US and Canada.
