Léon is head of the DLA Piper's Dutch Regulatory practise and a member of the Telecom team of DLA Piper in the Netherlands. His team is handling contentious and non-contentious regulatory, competition, EU and procurement law issues as well as related issues such as contract law and tort law. Léon has handled many European and Dutch competition law cases, including the Dutch civil litigation leading to the famous 1999 Eco Swiss/Benetton decision of the European Court of Justice. Léon has authored the first, second and third ed. of Memo Mededinging and co-authored Nederlands Mededingingsrecht, a comprehensive handbook on competition law and practise in the Netherlands, Kluwer 2008. Since 2004 Léon is teaching competition law at Radboud University Nijmegen.
