Co-Chairman, DLA Piper Global Board
|
Mr. Burch is the global co-chairman of DLA Piper. He has helped lead the evolution of what was once Piper & Marbury, a regional firm based in Maryland with 250 lawyers, to DLA Piper, with 4,200 lawyers in 30 countries and revenue approaching $2.4 billion.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Law Institute and a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. He has been recognized in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America (for business litigation) and in the Best Lawyers Annual Guide to Commercial Litigation.
Mr. Burch is chairman of the board of Johns Hopkins Medicine, which encompasses The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and The Johns Hopkins Health System, among other entities. He is also the vice chairman of The Johns Hopkins University and a director of the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity. He is past chairman of the board of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the University of Maryland School of Law and The Leadership of Greater Baltimore and has served on the boards of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Calvert School in Baltimore, Jemicy School, Dome Corporation and Equal Justice Works.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and an honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
