Chairman, DLA Piper Global Board
|
Mr. Burch is the chairman of the DLA Piper Global Board and co-chairman of DLA Piper LLP (US). He has helped lead the evolution of what was once Piper & Marbury, a regional firm based in Maryland with 250 lawyers, to DLA Piper, an international legal practice with more than 3,500 lawyers and revenue approaching $2.5 billion.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Law Institute and a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. He has been recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America (for business litigation).
A trustee of The Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Carey Business School of Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Burch recently served on the search committee to select the university's new president. He also serves as a director of the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity and of Equal Justice Works. He is past chairman of the board of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the University of Maryland School of Law and The Leadership of Greater Baltimore and has served on the boards of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Calvert School in Baltimore, Jemicy School and Dome Corporation.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and an honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
