Since the opening of DLA Piper's Atlanta office in 2006, our legal team has grown from four to nearly 30 lawyers, positioning us as a leading law firm in the Southeast. In conjunction with our Raleigh and Tampa offices, our Atlanta office serves as our Southeast hub for a growing number of clients in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Florida.

Fast becoming a leader in Atlanta’s emerging growth venture capital sector, we also represent all of the major venture capital firms in the region and several outside of the region. • Our litigators have 45 years of combined experience in litigation and arbitration, both nationally and internationally.
• Our Corporate and Securities practice works with private equity funds and handles mergers and acquisitions. We are fast becoming a leader in Atlanta's emerging growth venture capital sector, providing life cycle representation and advising at every stage of business life, from forming a corporation through venture capital financings, acquisitions, and public offerings.
• Of the 19 venture capital deals completed in Georgia during the fourth quarter of 2006, DLA Piper participated in 11 of them.
• Our Finance group handles both real estate finance and asset-based finance in addition to real property transactions. We also have a bankruptcy group that represents debtors, lenders, committees, and indenture trustees in major corporate bankruptcies throughout the Southeast.
• Our Franchise and Distribution lawyers offer a full range of services to franchise companies, including drafting franchise offering circulars, helping register franchise offering with state regulators, negotiating franchise agreements, and monitoring the franchisor-franchisee relationship. We also handle such matters as mergers and acquisitions and real estate on behalf of franchise companies.
• Our Government Affairs group practices in a burgeoning area of public private partnerships (PPP) concerning infrastructure, including transportation, water, and public assets. We also serve in a traditional government affairs capacity, representing clients before state and local governments throughout the Southeast.
• Our Real Estate lawyers have national transactional experience representing owners and construction contractors throughout the US. We also handle construction litigation, especially for hotel developers.
