DLA Piper recruits new Real Estate Head for Madrid

DLA Piper has recruited Orson Alcocer to lead its Real Estate practice in Madrid. Orson was previously at Ashurst and joins DLA Piper as partner.
Orson, a lawyer with extensive real estate finance and investment experience, will be responsible for the long-term develop the real estate practice. Orson advises Spanish and international property developers, investors and funds on real estate transactions, real estate finance, investments and joint ventures. His practice also includes large promotional, financing and construction transactions in real estate, as well as the management, acquisition and sale of all types of real estate assets from commercial property and hotels to logistics parks. In addition, Orson has substantial experience of M&As and restructures within the real estate market.
Prior to joining DLA Piper Orson was at Ashurst for two years. Earlier in his career he spent eight years at Uría Menéndez in Madrid, but also spent time working in the Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Lisbon offices.
Commenting on his appointment Orson said: "DLA Piper has offered me the opportunity to lead the Real Estate Department at the Madrid office. This gives me the chance to start a new professional project within a law firm which combines a wide international network of offices with an established and highly reputed practice in Spain."

Orson has a law degree and postgraduate in European law from Central European University in San Pablo. He joins DLA Piper on 23 April 2009.
