Holly Drumheller Butler is a partner in the Litigation practice group. She represents domestic and international companies in connection with commercial, tax, real estate and product liability litigation. Her practice includes defense of class actions, corporate litigation and counseling, and internal investigations.

Ms. Butler has significant trial experience, having tried cases in various federal and state courts. She has tried numerous arbitration proceedings and has experience in mediation. She has successfully opposed motions for class certification in numerous jurisdictions. Ms. Butler has extensive experience in the areas of case investigation, discovery practice, motions practice, and the preparation and presentation of expert and corporate designee witness testimony.

Ms. Butler has extensive appellate litigation experience. She has presented oral arguments before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. In addition, she has authored appellate briefs for the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, the Maryland Court of Appeals, the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Ms. Butler has served on the Hiring Committee for DLA Piper's Baltimore office since 2001. She also serves as the Baltimore office delegate for the firm's Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW) group.

Ms. Butler was named as a Maryland Rising Star in 2009 and 2010.

• Representation of an insurance company in a lawsuit alleging breach of contract and bad faith;
• Representation of a national telecommunications company in a lawsuit alleging breach of contract in connection with a tax repayment agreement;
• Representation of a national commercial real estate company in breach of contact actions in connection with tenant's ground lease disputes.
