Jared Genser, a partner based in Washington, DC, represents both national and international clients before Congress and the executive branch and counsels them on a variety of issues such as foreign policy, appropriations and international dispute resolution. In 2009, he was named by the National Law Journal as one of "40 Under 40: Washington's Rising Stars."

His clients have included former Czech Republic President Václav Havel, former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Aung San Suu Kyi, Desmond Tutu and Elie Wiesel. Independently, Mr. Genser is also president of Freedom Now, a non-profit and non-partisan organization which seeks to free prisoners of conscience around the world through legal, political and public relations advocacy efforts. In 2010, he received the Charles Bronfman Prize, honoring his work to promote and protect international human rights through Freedom Now.

He is also the recipient of the ABA's John Minor Wisdom Award for Public Service and Professionalism, UK Law Society's Pro Bono Solicitor of the Year Award and Liberty in North Korea's Freedom Fighter Award, and he is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Mr. Genser has taught a seminar on the UN Security Council at the University of Michigan and University of Pennsylvania law schools. Previously, Mr. Genser was a non-residential Visiting Fellow with the National Endowment for Democracy.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Genser was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, the global strategic consulting firm. In addition, he formerly served as an assistant to the Political Advisor to the Mayor of Jerusalem, Israel.
