Jennifer Baumann concentrates her practice in the areas of information technology, intellectual property and licensing, e-commerce, outsourcing and issues with respect to social media (including advertising and promotions).
Ms. Baumann has extensive experience negotiating and drafting a wide range of agreements including both national and international complex strategic commercial arrangements, outsourcing and consulting, software licensing, co-branding, distribution and merchandising arrangements. She has counseled several clients on transactions with respect to social media (including with complex marketing, subscriber acquisition and data mining/analytics issues). In addition, she has extensive experience with transactions in the financial services industry and other industries concerning various forms of payment, such as credit and debit/ATM card transactions, processors and loyalty or reward programs.
Ms. Baumann also focuses her practice on intellectual property and technology issues related to mergers and acquisitions and has additional experience in intellectual property litigation, domestic and international trademark prosecution, copyrights, domain name disputes, on-line gaming issues and sweepstakes. She also counsels companies from large multinationals to emerging tech and startup clients on Internet and e-commerce issues, among them terms of use, privacy policies and strategic operations.
She has worked with companies in a wide range of industries. Among her clients have been companies in the financial services, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, retail/fashion, real estate, entertainment, food and agriculture, telecommunications and software industries, as well as major Internet companies. She also advises several nonprofit organizations.
In 2010, Ms. Baumann was designated a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers. In 2010 and 2011, Ms. Baumann was mentioned in Legal 500 as an upcoming lawyer based on her experience counseling on social media issues and transactions.
