On 27 July 2011 the Supreme Court unanimously overturned the Court of Appeal decision in the case of Jivraj v Hashwani. The Court of Appeal had held that an arbitration clause under a joint venture agreement requiring the arbitrators to be 'respected members of the Ismaili community' was void as it infringed anti-religious discrimination legislation.
