|
John Barnes is a partner in DLA Piper's Litigation practice, based in Sacramento.
Emphasizing managed care litigation, Mr. Barnes has handled a broad range of managed care disputes, including risk contracting, capitation and fee-for-service reimbursement, collection practices and network access. He has recovered more than $15 million in settlements and awards on behalf of health care clients.
Mr. Barnes also counsels health care entities on issues concerning non-contracted provider payment disputes, managed care contracting, federal and state regulatory compliance, charity and indigent care, contract termination and transition issues, and business office practices. He has significant experience representing health care entities subpoenaed by the government to produce information on indigent care, chargemaster pricing and self-pay discounts.
He has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer Rising Star. He is the recipient of the McGeorge Scholar Award and the Verne Adrian and Annabel Academic Achievement Award. He is also a contributor to and editor of DLA Piper's Health Care blog, available at www.healthcarelawmatters.com.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Barnes was a legislative analyst in the California State Assembly.
