Léon is head of the DLA Piper's Dutch Regulatory practice. His team handles contentious and non-contentious regulatory, competition, EU and procurement law issues as well as contract law and tort law. Léon has handled many European and Dutch competition law cases, including the Dutch civil litigation leading to the famous 1999 Eco Swiss/Benetton decision of the European Court of Justice.
Léon has extensive experience with contentious and non-contentious issues of public procurement in relation to state aid and 'Altmark' issues. He authored the first, second and third ed. of Memo Mededinging and co-authored Nederlands Mededingingsrecht, a comprehensive handbook on competition law and practise in the Netherlands, Kluwer 2008. From 2004 to 2009, Léon taught competition law at Radboud University Nijmegen.
