Mark A. Bradford practices with DLA Piper's Litigation group. Mr. Bradford has lead associate experience representing reinsurers, accountants, financial services and heavy industrial clients in a wide variety of general commercial and professional liability matters at all stages of the litigation and government investigation processes. He has prepared and argued dispositive and discovery motions, deposed C-level executives and experts and directly counseled clients on the mediation process.

He successfully has represented clients in fraud, RICO, UCC, trade secret and breach of contract litigation in federal and state courts throughout the United States. Mr. Bradford also has defended clients in product liability and chemical exposure matters.

Notable recent results include:

  • Obtaining an order barring the introduction of certain evidence and striking a portion of the opposition’s expert’s report on behalf of a client due to the opposition’s e-discovery violations;
  • Obtaining a 12(b)(6) dismissal on behalf of an industrial client in a commercial dispute.

Before joining DLA Piper, Mr. Bradford was a member of the litigation department of Lord, Bissell & Brook.

Currently, Mr. Bradford is serving as the elected president of the University of Illinois Law Alumni. He has served in this role since 2007 and was responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of the Law Alumni from an independent nonprofit corporation into a subsidiary of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

While in law school, Mr. Bradford served as a judicial extern to the Honorable David R. Herndon of the Southern District of Illinois and also was an editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. Before attending law school, he worked as a deputy circuit clerk for the Honorable Matt Melucci in Madison County, Illinois where he was a courtroom deputy clerk in the civil division.
