Martin is the Head of Finance and Projects, Asia. Martin joins from Linklaters in Singapore, where he was a finance and projects partner for the last ten years.
Martin brings over 16 years of Asia experience and is one of the few lawyers in finance and projects to have advised clients through a full market cycle. He advised banks and sponsors during the boom in the early nineties and then during and after the economic crash of 1997 in Asia. He has consistently been acknowledged by leading publications and clients as a leader in finance and projects. Martin's geographic expertise covers Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Singapore.
Martin is a specialist in banking including in particular structured finance, project finance (including PPP), projects, energy M&A and construction law. His experience has largely focused on advising commercial and investment banks, multilateral institutions and leading corporates and sponsors on high value and complex transactions.
Martin has been acknowledged as a leading lawyer in Singapore in the area of Projects and Energy by Chambers Asia 2009 and 2010. Chambers 2010 further went on to note that he "has had a positive impact on the team in the South-East Asian market – he is a well-liked name who will give great credibility to the group."
Martin obtained a BSc (Hons) in civil engineering at the University of Birmingham and has experience as a civil engineer. Following this Martin re-qualified as a solicitor and joined Linklaters as an article clerk in 1987.
