Martin Schaefermeier practices international trade law with a focus on import relief actions, subsequent litigation of such actions, and related import/export matters. He advises US clients on domestic export control and embargo matters, particularly in the area of high technology goods or services. Mr. Schaefermeier also advises German companies on US corporate matters and customs matters and counsels US companies with respect to German and European Union legal issues.

Mr. Schaefermeier has represented US clients in antidumping duty proceedings and corresponding litigation against imports from numerous countries, with particular emphasis on Latin America. He has extensive experience in antidumping proceedings against hyperinflationary economy countries and in efforts to prevent the circumvention of antidumping duty orders.

One of Mr. Schaefermeier's areas of concentration is the liberalization of the European gas and electricity industries. Mr. Schaefermeier has advised domestic clients on this matter, specifically regarding the developing of legal regimes and the evaluating of business opportunities presented by liberalization efforts. During law school Mr. Schaefermeier worked as a research assistant for the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law.
