Matt Adler is a partner in the Seattle and Beijing offices of DLA Piper, where he concentrates on international securities offerings, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and private equity transactions. He has represented corporate and investment banking firms in a variety of capital raising and acquisition contexts. He has also advised general partners and limited partners in the formation of Asia-focused private equity and venture capital funds.
Mr. Adler began his career in New York in 1995 and lived and practiced in Greater China for more than six years. He has extensive experience representing Asian and European companies in public and private securities offerings in the US, and in US-related M&A.
In addition, Mr. Adler has acted as U.S. counsel in connection with numerous overseas stock exchange listings and other capital markets transactions by Chinese and other non-U.S. issuers. This experience includes the following major transactions in recent years:

Underwriters’ counsel in the $73 million Nasdaq IPO of Fuqi International, Inc.

US counsel to Indochina Capital Vietnam Holdings in its $500 million 144A offering and London Stock Exchange listing.

US counsel to China Central Properties in its $500 million 144A offering and London AIM listing.

US counsel to Bakrie Sumatera Plantations of Indonesia in its $110 million Reg S offering of senior secured notes.
In 2008, Seattle Business Monthly named Mr. Adler one of Seattle’s “87 Top Business Lawyers" and one of two leading lawyers in international law.
In 2005, Mr. Adler founded the Beijing office of DLA Piper. He now divides his time between that office and the firm’s Seattle office.
