Megan Muir is the chair of DLA Piper's Seattle Corporate and Securities practice.
Ms. Muir focuses her practice on representing emerging growth companies and the venture capital firms, strategic investors and investment banks that finance these companies. Her practice encompasses venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, corporate governance and general corporate counseling. She represents both private venture-backed companies and public companies in the technology sector and frequently represents venture capital firms in funding privately held companies. She has worked with companies in a wide variety of technology sectors including software, wireless hardware and services, online gaming, e-commerce, online media, SAAS, genomics, and biotechnology. In the past three years, she has represented clients in over 120 venture capital financings totaling in excess of US$500 million.
Ms. Muir previously was a lawyer with Venture Law Group, a Silicon Valley-based law firm known for its representation of early stage technology companies. She then became General Counsel and Senior VP of Corporate Development of one of her clients, RadioFrame Networks, a Redmond-based designer and producer of wireless communications equipment. In her role at RadioFrame, Ms. Muir handled the company's equity financings and other securities law matters, corporate partnerships, development outsourcing, distribution and sales agreements as well as intellectual property licensing.
Ms. Muir represents or has represented clients including Atmel, Avalara, Benchmark Capital, Corixa, Goldman Sachs, HomeGrocer.com, Ignition Venture Partners, Imperium Renewables, InfoSpace, Madrona Venture Partners, Nimbic, Nine by Blue, Origo Sino-India, OVP Ventures, Pacific Source, PopCap Games, Rosetta Inpharmatics, SEOmoz, SonicWALL, Stamps.com, Telestream, Trilogy Equity Partners, UrbanQ, WildTangent, Wireless Realty and YongoPal.
In 2011 and 2010, Ms. Muir was named a Super Lawyer by Washington Law & Politics magazine; in prior years, that magazine named her a Rising Star.
