Neil Dilloff's diversified national litigation practice includes significant experience in insurance, professional malpractice, and construction litigation, as well as roles as lead counsel in many large, complex commercial litigation matters. He has tried more than 100 cases in state and federal courts and has won two of the largest plaintiffs' verdicts in Maryland history. Mr. Dilloff also has achieved over a dozen recoveries in excess of $1 million. He has also successfully defended law firms, insurance companies, and other organizations.

Mr. Dilloff has written more than 30 articles and books on a variety of subjects in various legal journals. He teaches civil trial practice, trial advocacy, settlement negotiations, and deposition practice for the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers; is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Law and at the University of Baltimore School of Law; and serves as a civil case mediator on the Baltimore City Circuit Court's Mediation Panel. Mr. Dilloff served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.

• Won $242 million legal malpractice case on motion for summary judgment on behalf of the defendant, a national law firm
• Defense jury verdict in favor of law firm and senior partner in a $45 million legal malpractice case
• Summary judgment affirmed on appeal, in favor of defendant insurance company in $14 million Iowa class action
• Summary judgment in favor of defendant in $6 million sexual harassment and breach of contract case
• Defense jury verdict for large insurance company in $50 million action brought by doctors suing for refunds under a medical malpractice policy (case written up in The National Law Journal 's "Defense Hot List" (8/21/06))
• Judgment, notwithstanding the verdict, in favor of defendant machinery distributor in industrial accident case
• Dismissal obtained in favor of defendant in multi-million securities fraud case
• Summary judgment on behalf of a defendant in a legal malpractice case
• Plaintiff's jury verdict for $1.65 million in a finder's fee case
• Summary judgment on behalf of the defendant in a multi-million dollar claim alleging legal malpractice/conflict of interest
• Successfully represented a major international telecommunications company in a $300 million post-closing adjustment arbitration
• Defense jury verdict in favor of all defendants (two partners and the law firm) in a legal malpractice case
• Two of the largest jury verdicts in Maryland history on behalf of the State of Maryland Deposit Insurance Fund

• Confidential settlement on behalf of former officer and general counsel of bankrupt company who had been sued for breach of fiduciary duty
• Confidential settlement on behalf of a defendant lawyer in multi-million dollar legal malpractice case for a fraction of amount claimed
• Confidential multi-million settlement on behalf of plaintiffs in airplane crash case
• $7.5 million settlement on behalf of public utility company against another utility arising out of maintenance of nuclear power plant
• Confidential multi-million dollar settlement on behalf of plaintiff insurance company
• $3.5 million settlement on behalf of plaintiff owner in construction defects case brought in federal court in Orlando, Florida
• Settlement of a $30 million bad faith claim brought in federal court in Buffalo, New York, against defendant surety for a small fraction of claimed amount
• Resolution of $500 million in bad faith claim on behalf of defendant insurance company for a fraction of the claim which had been brought in federal court in Tulsa, Oklahoma
• $2.6 million settlement on behalf of plaintiff government agency in a legal malpractice claim against major law firm in D.C.
• $3 million settlement on behalf of plaintiff owner in construction defects claim in connection with Florida apartment complex in state court in Orlando, Florida

Arbitrations

• Served as arbitrator in dispute between owner and general contractor in connection with $1 million+ claim arising out of the construction of a Baltimore high rise office building
• Served as arbitrator in various other construction matters
