David A. Berlyne represents American, European and multinational corporations, financial institutions and investment funds in commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States. He has written numerous articles for legal and real estate industry publications, including Estates Gazette, the UK’s leading real estate weekly, and has been acclaimed by Legal Business magazine as one of 30 top lawyers under 30 years of age. Mr. Berlyne was formerly a Lecturer in Law at King’s College, London. He holds a Master of Laws degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from the London School of Economics and is an honors graduate of Manchester University. Mr. Berlyne sits on the Real Property Law Committee and the European Affairs Special Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
US-Based Representations
Mr. Berlyne has broad experience of representing US-based corporations, financial institutions, and governmental agencies in complex commercial real estate matters including financing, sales & acquisitions, development, and leasing deals. He has had the honor of acting in some of New York’s most high-profile real estate transactions, including the redevelopment of the World Trade Center. Mr. Berlyne also has considerable experience in sales, acquisitions, and financings in the US hotel and gaming sector, and he represents major US financial institutions in construction financing transactions.
Europe-Based Representations
In addition to being a member of the New York Bar, Mr. Berlyne is also admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales (non-practicing), and his legal experience includes four years of practice in the City of London. Since immigrating to New York in 1999, Mr. Berlyne has continued to counsel European clients doing business in the United States and sits on the New York City Bar Association’s Special Committee on European Affairs. Mr. Berlyne’s European and multinational clientele includes corporations, investment funds, and high-net-worth individuals centered in the United Kingdom and throughout continental Europe.
