Oskar heads the Restructuring Group in Austria. He advises clients on all aspects of restructuring law and on all types of restructuring matters, such as security and facility reviews, restructuring of facilities and work-outs, as well as distressed real estate, debt and equity rescheduling and refinancing, restructuring and reorganisation strategies, rescue planning and implementation.

Prior to heading the restructuring group in Austria, Oskar Winkler led the real estate practice in Austria and was involved in numerous national and international real estate transactions, including but not limited to restructuring and real estate litigation, across Central and Eastern Europe.

Oskar also specialises in insurance law, including insurance supervisory law, general terms and conditions of insurance companies and re-insurance. In addition, he advises insurance companies on M&A transactions and on the administration of assets. Oskar also represents clients in court in all insurance related disputes.

Before joining DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach, Oskar was a partner with another reputable law firm in Vienna for several years. In his career to date, he has also worked for the international insurance company Allianz in Austria, where he was, amongst other responsibilities, the project leader for the establishment of Allianz' Hungarian subsidiary Providencia, which is Hungary's second largest insurance company today.

Oskar was educated at the Vienna Economics University (Master of Business Administration, 1981) and the University of Vienna, Faculty of Law (Doctor of Laws, 1984).
