Peter is a partner in DLA Piper's Finance group in Asia. Qualified in England & Wales, he has extensive experience advising on securitisations, funds, securities and bank regulatory matters, structured finance transactions, international capital markets (both debt and equity), derivatives (ISDA documentation) and banking matters. Peter currently heads our (non-contentious) Financial Regulatory Practice in Asia, primarily covering Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China (PRC).

In the area of securitisation, Peter has advised on numerous cross-border securitisation transactions including those involving credit card receivables, auto loans, residential mortgages (RMBS), commercial mortgages, commercial leases, shares and trade receivables. The structures of such transactions vary and include those involving 144A/Reg S notes, monoline wrapped deals, pass-through structures, conduit deals and multi-originator deals. Peter recently advised an RMBS deal that won IFLR's Securitisation/Structured Finance Deal of the Year (Asia) Award.

In the area of funds and financial regulatory matters, Peter has advised on several fund formation matters (including PRC funds), sale and purchase of interests in funds, as well as securities regulatory matters relating to asset management. Peter frequently advises banks and securities firms on financial regulatory matters, including licensing and compliance matters.

In the area of capital markets and banking, Peter has advised on transactions originating from many jurisdictions, including India, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, the PRC and Japan. These include CBs, BWs, EBs, DRs, MTN and retail note programmes and the restructuring of bonds. Peter has advised on several syndicated, bilateral loans (including shipping, real estate, and other asset finance) and the restructuring of several syndicated loans.

In the area of structured finance and derivatives, Peter has advised on numerous complex products including CDOs, CBOs, Primary CDOs, repackagings, credit linked notes, interest rate and currency swaps, equity derivatives, share monetisations and derivative warrants.

Peter often gives seminars to lawyers and bankers on securitisation and other finance law topics at events such as the Euromoney Training sessions. Peter holds a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from Oxford University, and a Ph.D from Sydney University. He is fluent in Korean and speaks conversational Mandarin.
