Richard is a member of the Corporate team and is based in the Beijing office. He has extensive experience as a corporate and commercial attorney/real estate development lawyer in Canada prior to joining his previous firm Lehman, Lee & Xu.

Over a period of more than 25 years as a lawyer in Canada, Richard represented a large number of Canadian-based domestic companies and corporations, specialising in real estate development projects, corporate transactions, corporate financing and general commercial matters such as franchising.

In his capacity as the head of the commercial section of Lehman, Lee & Xu, Richard supervised overseas and Chinese lawyers with respect to providing legal advice to overseas clients investing in China and Chinese clients with international operations. Richard has supervised the establishment of a large number of overseas investment enterprises in a wide range of industry sectors and acquisitions of numerous Chinese domestic companies by overseas investors.

Over the past two to three years Richard has focused on commercial and corporate acquisitions, franchising and advertising matters in China and represents a number of international corporations, franchisors and advertisers with respect to their activities in China.

Richard is a very active member in the International Franchise Association and various international advertising groups in addition to participating in corporate and commercial business organisations.

Richard is one of a small group of lawyers working and specialising in Chinese franchise matters that have been nominated to "The International Who's Who International Franchise Lawyers" for 2008.
