Robert Crewdson has a national practice focusing on the varied transactional and litigation needs of national owners, developers and contractors in the construction industry, emphasizing risk management and claims avoidance. He advises national development firms and owners in the preparation of form contract documents, internal contracting procedures, claims avoidance practices and in-house staff training.

Mr. Crewdson also handles significant disputes for owners and contractors across the country, including mediation, arbitration, and state and federal litigation matters. He has handled major disputes and litigation involving a wide variety of construction projects, including malls, shopping centers, hospitals and healthcare facilities, sports arenas, office buildings, multifamily and condominium projects, educational facilities and hotels. These matters have ranged from contractor terminations and extra work claims to delay claims and significant construction defect litigation.

Mr. Crewdson has lectured frequently on construction issues for such groups as the American Institute of Architects, International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE), Lorman, and the State Bar of Georgia (ICLE), and has published an extensive number of articles and treatise chapters dealing with a wide variety of construction law topics. For more than a decade, he annually chaired ICLE’s “Construction Law for the General Practitioner" program.

  • Counsel to one of the largest multifamily developers in the nation, in transactional and dispute matters relative to high-rise and garden-style apartment communities across the country.
  • Counsel to one of the largest retail developers in the United States for transactional and dispute matters on various projects across the country.
  • Counsel to one of the largest baggage handling companies in the world for the construction of one of the largest private air transport facilities in the world.
  • Counsel to two of the top twenty contractors in the nation in dispute matters for Georgia and the Carolinas.

Honors and Recognitions

Mr. Crewdson has been regularly named one of Georgia's leading lawyers for construction matters in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, which hails him as "a true expert in construction contract law." In 2009, Chambers commented, "With strong negotiating skills on the development side, he is especially well versed in issues affecting the retail development business, though he and his team offer an impressive breadth of knowledge across infrastructure issues. Market sources credit him with the success of the practice, mentioning its value for money, fast turnaround times and efficiency." In 2010, Chambers said, "He is recognized for his high-level work, with sources calling him 'a heavy hitter' in the field." In 2011, Chambers commented on his "diverse practice representing owners, developers and contractors."

Mr. Crewdson is also consistently listed in Legal 500, The Best Lawyers in America and as a Super Lawyer.
