Russell Gardner's practice encompasses all areas of management-side labor and employment discrimination law. He regularly advises on union-avoidance matters, including representation before the National Labor Relations Board. Mr. Gardner's employment law practice includes advice and counsel in employment discrimination and OSHA matters, and appearance in defense of employment claims, including ERISA claims, in state and federal courts across the nation. His litigation experience includes several employment-related class action proceedings. Mr. Gardner also advises in the drafting of employment agreements, including non-competition agreements, and offers litigation experience in the enforcement of such agreements. He has written and lectured extensively on a variety of employment topics, particularly the Americans with Disabilities Act and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Mr. Gardner is recognized by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business as one of the leading lawyers in Maryland practicing management-side employment law. In 2009, Chambers called him "an expert" and noted: "Sources commend his down-to-earth approach." In 2010, Chambers commented that his "knowledge of the law and timely responses always impress" and that he "is praised for his negotiating style and generates a great deal of respect from those he deals with." In addition, he is recognized in the current and recent past editions of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of management-side employment law, as well as in the current Who's Who Legal USA in Management Labor and Employment. Mr. Gardner has also been rated "AV" from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available. In 2008, he was named a Maryland Super Lawyer.
