Sandra has over 10 years experience of advising in employment law matters. The client's objectives are always paramount in the advice she gives. She advises on all aspects of employment law particularly in relation to workplace diversity and defending employers on discrimination claims including race sex disability religion and sexual orientation. She co-chaired DTI/employer meetings on the new age regulations before they were finalised with the Employers Forum on Age and is part of firm's working party on age discrimination. She also advises in complex managing performance and sickness absence issues particularly with disability discrimination implications.
Sandra is a tribunal advocate and has represented employers on the full remit of claims including local authority class actions and negotiating with trade unions on a local authority's introduction of single status. Sandra advises on HR policy and practice, company restructures with TUPE related issues and redundancy exercises (including merger and acquisition situations). Sandra acts for a variety of clients which has given her an in-depth knowledge of their priorities and objectives and has built up many longstanding client relationships.

Seminars
Sandra has provided extensive client training throughout her legal career. She specialises in giving training which is tailored to the client needs, which usually involves training in conjunction with reviews of company handbooks and/or company policies. Sandra is a regular speaker on DLA Piper Advance and speaks particularly on the courses relating to diversity issues and discrimination, maternity, family friendly policies and management of absence.
Sandra runs the lunchtime seminar programme at DLA Piper in Birmingham and the CIPD Birmingham Annual Employment law training.
