Regulation

All Spanish lawyers at DLA Piper Spain, S.L.U. are admitted within Spain to practice as lawyers (Abogados) and are members of either the Madrid Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de Madrid), or the Barcelona Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona). The regulatory provisions applicable to lawyers are:

• General Rules for Lawyers (Estatuto General de la Abogacía Española); and
• Spanish Lawyers Code of Conduct (Código Deontológico de la Abogacía Española), which is based on the European Code of Conduct (Código Deontológico Europeo).

Professional liability insurance

Our professional indemnity insurer is Travelers Insurance Company Limited whose address is Exchequer Court, 33 St Mary Axe, London EC3A 8AG. This insurance covers our practices in the United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East, Australia and Asia and extends to acts and omissions wherever they occur in the world.

In certain jurisdictions professional indemnity insurance is required to be placed locally in accordance with statute or regulation. Where there are such requirements we have policies in place to meet these obligations, details of which can be supplied .
