Steve Reynolds handles a broad range of litigation matters with a focus on intellectual property law in the areas of patent, trademark and unfair competition, and copyright law. Mr. Reynolds has experience representing clients in state and federal court and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Reynolds has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Mr. Reynolds was an engineer at Airflow Sciences Corporation and interned as an engineer at Smiths Aerospace. He is admitted to practice before the USPTO.

  • Girafa.com, Inc. v. Amazon.com, et al. (D. Del. 2007) Represented Amazon.com and Alexa Internet in Delaware, Texas, and California in a patent dispute involving thumbnail images of websites that are shown in association with Internet searches
  • Langeman Manufacturing, Ltd. v. Vortex Sprayliners, Inc. (W.D. Wis. 2007)
  • Parking Security Systems Corp. v. W2007 Golub JHC Realty, LLC (N.D. Ill. 2007) Represented Golub JHC Realty in successfully having plaintiff dismiss its case with prejudice after preliminary investigation
  • Baran v. AMT Sverige, AB et al. (N.D. Ohio 2004) Represented one of the counter-defendants, Medical Device Technologies, Inc., in obtaining summary judgment of non-infringement.

  • Bodum USA, Inc. v. LaCafetiére, Inc. (N.D. Ill. 2007) Obtained summary judgment in favor of LaCafetiére in defense of trade dress infringement lawsuit

Copyright/Unfair Competition

  • International Securities Exchange, LLC v. Chicago Board Options Exchange, Inc. (Ill. 2007)
  • Bertam Music Co., et al. v. P & C Enterprises, Inc., et al. (C.D. Ill. 2009) Obtained summary judgment of willful infringement, including statutory damages, an award of attorneys’ fees, and an injunction against defendants
  • Almo Music Corporation et al v. LJJJM, Inc. et al. (N.D. Ill. 2010) Obtained judgment in favor of the plaintiffs
  • EMI April Music Inc. et al v. The Johns Den, Inc. et al. (N.D. Ill. 2010) Obtained settlement on favorable terms for the plaintiffs

Pro Bono

Mr. Reynolds's pro bono experience includes representing individuals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in cases of illegal searches and seizures, representing low income inventors in drafting patent applications, and tutoring and mentoring high school students in the Chicago Public Schools.
