Todd Noonan is of counsel to DLA Piper's Litigation practice, based in Sacramento.
Mr. Noonan represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil and criminal matters, with an emphasis on complex commercial disputes, intellectual property, and state and federal appeals.
He is also a visiting professor of law at the UC Davis School of Law (King Hall), teaching appellate advocacy. Mr. Noonan was also a former chair of the Trade Secret Subcommittee of the Intellectual Property Section of the California State Bar and has been a speaker on topics including electronic discovery, trade secret law and the California anti-SLAPP statue.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Noonan was with Stevens, O'Connell & Jacobs LLP and, early in his career, was an associate with the San Francisco office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He was also a law clerk for the Honorable Vaughn R. Walker, United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Represented a risk retention group in a federal lawsuit brought against the Commissioner of Insurance for the State of California. Relying on federal preemption, obtained temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction barring the Commissioner from enforcing a cease and desist order

Obtained summary judgment and award of attorney's fees in a lawsuit brought by a World War II aviator whose alleged claims included violations of the Right of Publicity and the Lanham Act. Case now on appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal

Defended a media broker in a lawsuit brought by a former client relating to the sale of a radio station. Case dismissed on demurrer. Successfully briefed and argued the appeal before the Third District Court of Appeals

Represented an individual in matters relating to litigation brought against his employer based upon allegedly defamatory postings on an Internet message board

Second chair in a nine-week federal jury trial involving allegations of trademark and trade dress infringement under the Lanham Act and breach of fiduciary duty

Represented a national company asserting claims against a former employee for copyright infringement and misappropriation of confidential information. Matter successfully settled out of court
