Recruitment, retention and development of the best people is fundamental to any practice. Nowhere is it more important than in a professional legal practice like ours. People are our key resource. We recognise that if we are to attract and keep the best then we need to provide outstanding development programmes which enable our people to realise their goals whilst supporting the strategic imperatives of the business.
We have implemented an innovative curricular approach to development which was praised as "exceptional" when we were accredited with "Investors in People" status. Not only does our training deliver focused, specific and measurable development but it also helps to boost our competitive edge.
Within the curriculum there are three levels of modular training: pan-organisational courses for fee earners and business support professionals; region-specific modules; and location-specific development. All are clearly linked to individual roles and responsibilities, our performance management system, our practice group and location business plans and the overall business strategy.
