Matt Adler's practice focuses on international and domestic securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity and venture capital fund formation and investment.
Mr. Adler has been based in DLA Piper's Seattle office since 2006. Previously, he lived and practiced in China for more than six years, and opened DLA Piper's Beijing office.
Mr. Adler continues to work with issuers, underwriters and investors in public and private securities offerings for China-based companies, as well as similar transactions for companies based in the US, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia and other regions. He also has extensive experience in China-related and other cross-border mergers and acquisitions. His recent transactional experience includes representing companies such as American Dairy (NYSE: ADY), AsiaInfo Holdings (Nasdaq: ASIA), Duoyuan Printing (NYSE: DYP) and GLG Life Tech Corporation (Nasdaq: GLGL). He has also represented underwriters in recent public offerings for ChinaCast Education (Nasdaq: CAST) and Fuqi International (Nasdaq: FUQI).
In his private equity and venture capital practice, Mr. Adler advises general partners and limited partners in fund formation, and represents investment funds in portfolio investments and dispositions. Clients Mr. Adler has worked with in this area include Actis Capital, Indochina Capital, Shui On Group, The Morningside Group and Lilly Ventures (the venture capital arm of Eli Lilly and Company).
The respected publisher Chambers and Partners recognizes Mr. Adler in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business for his Asia-focused Corporate/Commercial practice. In 2008, Seattle Business Monthly named Mr. Adler one of Seattle's "87 Top Business Lawyers" and one of two leading lawyers for international law.
