Stacy Snowman concentrates in intellectual property issues for technology companies, international technology licensing transactions, patent portfolio purchases and licensing, Internet transactions, commercialization of government technology, software licensing, open source compliance issues, multimedia transactions, intellectual property audits, outsourcing transactions, distribution, dealer, VAR, ISV, and OEM agreements; and assisting with licensing, warranty and related issues.

Ms. Snowman is one of two National Diversity and Inclusion Partners for DLA Piper. She is a member of DLA Piper's Executive Committee as well as the firmwide Policy Committee.

In 2010, the Project for Attorney Retention honored her with its 2010 Flex Success Award for her commitment to and success in developing flex-time work models. She has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer, in a joint project of Law & Politics and San Francisco magazines.

  • Designed and implemented open source compliance programs and dual licensing programs
  • Negotiated sourcing transactions for IT, telecommunications, software development and business process services
  • Designed, structured, and implemented channel strategies
  • Drafted and negotiated complex patent licenses
  • Negotiated licenses for government-funded technologies for commercialization by start-up companies
  • Performed comprehensive proprietary rights audits for high technology companies
  • Designed proprietary rights protection programs
  • Set up comprehensive international product localization, production, and distribution schemes, including inter-company agreements with foreign subsidiaries
  • Drafted and negotiated major software development and distribution licenses with various hardware and software vendors
  • Negotiated complex R&D agreements for cutting edge technologies
  • Designed and implemented multi-tiered commercial software product distribution channels
  • Negotiated government contract software (and source code) license transactions with DOD facilities, civilian agencies, and national laboratories
  • Negotiated multimedia content transactions
