William A. Rudnick is co-managing partner of DLA Piper's Chicago office and is a member of the Real Estate and Corporate practice groups and DLA Piper's Energy Sector. Mr. Rudnick also leads the Chicago office Energy Steering Committee. Mr. Rudnick counsels and represents entrepreneurial clients, advising on legal and business issues, including capital structure and deal structure, capital formation, recapitalization and workout, transaction strategy, corporate governance, litigation strategy, and strategic planning. Mr. Rudnick serves clients in various sectors, including Real Estate, Financial Services, Entertainment, Construction, Energy and Clean Tech and Retail.
Mr. Rudnick serves on DLA Piper's Policy Committee. Mr. Rudnick has led DLA Piper's Strategic Planning and Real Estate Strategy Committees and has served on DLA Piper's Executive Committee. He has also led a number of firmwide initiatives.
Additionally, Mr. Rudnick is internationally recognized for his leadership roles in hunger relief. He is a co-founder and former chairman of the board of the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN), an organization of food banks and national and regional food bank associations around the world whose mission is to end world hunger by supporting food banking where it exists and helping create it where it does not. Prior to co-founding GFN, Mr. Rudnick served on the boards of Feeding America (formerly known as America's Second Harvest) and The Greater Chicago Food Depository, chairing both boards. Mr. Rudnick was recognized for his long-term support of the Greater Chicago Food Depository in a special 20th anniversary commemoration at the 2008 annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards dinner, an event he co-founded in 1988. Furthermore, Mr. Rudnick serves on the board of overseers of the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University.
Since 2005, Mr. Rudnick has been repeatedly designated an Illinois Super Lawyer in Real Estate, as the result of research projects conducted jointly by Law & Politics and Chicago magazines. Martindale-Hubbell has rated him AV, its highest available ranking. He was also named to The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Rudnick's writings on legal issues have been published by Bankruptcy Law360, Real Estate Finance & Investment, the Chicago Sun-Times, Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and Prentice Hall. He also has presented on real estate and finance related topics to the Realty Club of Chicago, at the American Lodging Investment Summit, DePaul University, the Chicago Bar Association, and the National Business Institute.
