Wolfgang is a partner based in the Berlin and Frankfurt offices and heads DLA Piper's Finance and Projects group in Germany. Wolfgang advises on all aspects of banking and finance law. He is an expert in M&A deals in the financial sector, securitisations, real estate finance, non-performing loan deals, equity and debt structuring as well as advising investors and financial institutions on product development and strategy.

Wolfgang studied law and economics at university after which he worked for the Treuhandanstalt, the government agency charged with privatising all state-owned companies in the former East Germany. This gave Wolfgang a deep insight into modern management structures. Working as a lawyer for 20 years, he has built up a team of colleagues with a focus on capital market-oriented financing.

Some of the deals he has advised on include an acquisition of a bank with a large non-performing loan portfolio, several non-performing loan transactions of diversified bank portfolios, a capital market transaction for housing companies (pooling of assets of different housing companies) and a commercial receivables securitisation with prior pooling of the assets located in eight countries.
