On October 11, DLA Piper sponsored its first CLE event for Women in IP Law. Titled "Practical Tips from the Bench and Bar to Further Your Career." The Silicon Valley event featured panel discussions on topics including:
  • Making Persuasive Presentations in IP Cases/ Successful Courtroom Techniques
  • Tips for Effective Leadership in Technology Matters
  • Developing Strong Client Relationships

Panelists included Anirma R. Gupta, Chief Intellectual Property and Litigation Counsel at Intuit Inc., Mona Sabet, Vice President, Intellectual Property, Cadence Design Systems, Inc., and Julie Mar-Spinola, former Vice President, Global Affairs--Litigation and Intellectual Property, Atmel Corporation. Rounding out the panel were Pam Fulmer (San Francisco), Elizabeth Day (East Palo Alto), and former partner and now US Magistrate Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo of the District Court for the Southern District of California.

The 150 attendees were primarily in-house counsel from high tech companies in the Bay Area. Co-sponsors were Association of Corporate Counsel and Women in Licensing Bay Area.
