Jeffrey Leavitt works with emerging growth companies, private investment entities, and the various groups that advise them.

Mr. Leavitt is a graduate of the Kauffman Fellows Program, a highly competitive national fellowship akin to a Rhodes Scholarship for venture capital professionals (www.kauffmanfellows.org). He was the first J.D. and only the second person from Atlanta ever accepted into the program. Kauffman Fellows receive specialized training in venture capital investment techniques and develop an extensive network throughout the private equity industry. Mr. Leavitt is the only practicing attorney in the country to have completed the Kauffman program.

Before moving to Atlanta, Mr. Leavitt co-founded a venture backed software company in New York City. He began his career as an associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, where he helped consummate several high-profile transactions, including the merger of the Qwest and US West corporations and the merger of the Exxon and Mobil corporations, each the largest in history when announced. He also negotiated several private equity and LBO transactions for Morgan Stanley and CSFB’s investment arms.

Mr. Leavitt is a regular speaker and panelist in the Atlanta technology community and was named one of Atlanta’s “Top Twenty Techies to Know” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. He attended the Venture Capital Institute, a worldwide education foundation and training program for venture and private equity professionals, as a student in 2003, and was appointed to its faculty in 2006. In 2007, the Venture Capital Institute selected him as a permanent member of its faculty. "Burned Angels: The Coming Wave of Minority Shareholder Oppression Claims in Venture Capital Start-up Companies," his article in the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology, is now required reading in a number of law school courses on venture capital law. Mr. Leavitt has also had publications appear in The New York Times and the Venture Capital Journal.
