Ms. Cairo focuses her practice on antitrust and competition law matters. She has a diverse experience with antitrust counseling, investigations and litigation, including:

Rendering strategic advice for antitrust programs in a comprehensive corporate compliance model, including drafting presentations to senior management, drafting programs for executives and employees and antitrust training modules

Providing counseling on the structure of distribution, sales and joint ventures to minimize antitrust risk and on the possible antitrust implications of patent settlements in the pharmaceutical sector

Engaging in strategic reviews of potential mergers and acquisitions, working closely with economists in advocacy before the FTC or DOJ

Counseling and representation of corporate defendants in criminal cartel investigations, including managing and undertaking internal investigations and compliance audits

Representing clients before the FTC, DOJ and state enforcement authorities in civil non-merger investigations of potential antitrust or unfair competition violations

Representing parties in civil antitrust litigation, including class actions

Defended merger party before the DOJ in merger investigation that involved large “Second Request” and resulted in the closing of the transaction without litigation

Representation of an independent physicians’ association against charges of price-fixing by the FTC that ended with a consent decree and no civil fine

Drafted antitrust compliance policy for industrial manufacturer and developed complete audit and compliance program
