Mr. Burch is DLA Piper's US Joint Chief Executive Officer and Global Chairman Elect. He has helped lead the evolution of what was then Piper & Marbury, a regional firm based in Maryland with 250 lawyers, to DLA Piper, now the largest law firm in the world with over 3,700 lawyers in 65 offices around the world and revenue approaching $2.5 billion.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Law Institute and a permanent member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference. He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America (for business litigation).
A trustee of The Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Carey Business School of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Mr. Burch has been named to the search committee to select the new president of The Johns Hopkins University. He is past chairman of the board of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the University of Maryland School of Law and The Leadership of Greater Baltimore and has served on the boards of The Baltimore Museum of Art, Calvert School in Baltimore, Jemicy School and Dome Corporation.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and an honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif.
