John Kratz has a practice concentrated in the planning of employee benefits and executive compensation, including work with all aspects of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and has more than 25 years' experience in this area.
His employee benefit experience includes designing and drafting all types of employee benefit programs, such as tax-qualified pension and profit sharing plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), cafeteria plans and executive deferred compensation arrangements, advising financial institution plan sponsors and other benefit plan fiduciaries on prohibited transaction and fiduciary responsibility questions under ERISA, and dealing with benefit issues in mergers and acquisitions. He is also experienced in designing deferred compensation and other benefit programs for tax-exempt employers.

Citing the "consistent quality" of his work and his "clear-sighted approach," the publication calls him "the best." In 2008, he was named a Maryland Super Lawyer.
