DLA Piper announces Latin America Initiative

Initiative to Leverage Firm-Wide Experience, Capabilities Serving Clients With Latin American Interests; Supports Firm’s Leading Global Platform and Strategy

News

(New York) – DLA Piper today announced the formal launch of its Latin America Initiative, a new resource to ensure the delivery of seamless legal services to clients with Latin American interests.

The initiative is designed to harness the skills and extensive Latin American experiences of DLA Piper attorneys across the globe to more effectively serve clients with interests in the region, whether it is multi-national organizations completing transactions on the ground in Latin America or advising Latin American companies on a spectrum of legal issues in the U.S. and abroad.

“We are excited to build on the significant experiences of our lawyers in handling sophisticated matters for clients in Latin America,” said Michael E. Santa Maria, a Dallas partner and Co-Coordinator of DLA Piper’s Latin America Initiative. “This effort will ensure that our collective experiences are strategically coordinated and channeled in a manner that benefits our clients with interests in the region.”

DLA Piper’s Latin America Initiative offers clients strong advisory and transactional support centered on Corporate/M&A, Real Estate and Finance-related legal capabilities. The initiative is further supported by leading global practices in the areas of International Dispute Resolution, Government Affairs (including International Trade and lobbying in Washington D.C.) and Franchise and Distribution law.

Robust Relationships to Benefit Clients

Critical to its work in advising clients active in the region, DLA Piper has established close working relationships with the most highly regarded legal service providers in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. To maximize the intelligence, advice and level of quality that DLA Piper is able to offer clients, the firm has strengthened its relationships with these Latin American firms to help ensure quality of service, advice and results.

“At the end of the day, this is about reinforcing to our clients and to the marketplace that we can add significant value to your Latin American transactions just as we do in other regions of the world by making them smoother, more cost effective and productive,” added Todd R. Bowers, DLA Piper Of Counsel and Co-Coordinator of the Initiative. “We have the right experience and have developed strong relationships with the very best local firms to allow us to identify the best partner firms to assist us in meeting the specific needs of our clients and achieving the outcomes they expect.”
